About Hiromu Arakawa
Hiromu Arakawa, born on May 8, 1973, in Japan, is a renowned cartoonist best known for her internationally popular Fullmetal Alchemist manga series. She has also gained recognition for her work on Hero Tales, Silver Spoon, and The Heroic Legend of Arslan.
Prior to achieving fame, she worked as an assistant to established manga artist Hiroyuki Eto before launching her own career by publishing the award-winning manga titled Stray Dog.
Arakawa’s Fullmetal Alchemist won a Shogakukan Manga Award in 2003 and a Seiun Award in 2011. Born and raised on a farm in Hokkaido, Japan with four siblings, she later settled in Tokyo where she welcomed three children between 2007 and 2014.
