About Helvy Rosa
Helvy Rosa was born on April 2, 1970, in Medan, Indonesia. She is an Indonesian playwright, poet and author who has made significant contributions to literature with over 60 books to her name. Her short story Jaring-jaring Merah was highly regarded by Horison magazine as one of the most important works of the ’90s. Additionally, she has been recognized as one of the 500 Most Influential Muslims.
Prior to gaining fame as a writer, she earned a degree in Arabic literature from Universitas Indonesia. Furthermore, Helvy Rosa founded and served as the first chairwoman of the Pen Circle Forum.
In 1995, she married Widanardi Satryatomo and gave birth to her son Abdurahman that same year.
