About Gianna Maria Canale
Gianna Maria Canale (born September 12, 1927) was an Italian movie actress known for her work in Italian films of the 1940s, ’50s, and ’60s. She is perhaps most well known for her starring roles in the horror movie I Vampiri (1957), the historical drama Sins of Rome (1953), and the adventure movie Son of d’Artagnan (1950).
Before launching her acting and modeling careers, Canale finished as runner-up in the 1947 Miss Italia beauty pageant.
She retired from the film industry in the mid-1960s and died four decades later in Sutri, Viterbo, Italy. Canale was married to Italian-born director Riccardo Freda with whom she frequently collaborated artistically.
