Giada Colagrande, born on October 16, 1975 in Pescara, Italy, is a director known for her work in films such as Aprimi il Cuore (Open My Heart) and Before It Had a Name (Black Widow). Her acclaimed work has been showcased at prestigious events including the Venice Film Festival, Paris Cinema, and the Tribeca Film Festival. Prior to gaining fame as a director, she started her career as a video artist and documentary filmmaker, creating early shorts like “N.3” and “Carnaval.” Additionally she co-starred with Jason Schwartzman in Wes Anderson’s short film “Castello Cavalcanti” in 2013. She is married to Academy Award-nominated actor Willem Dafoe with whom she has acted alongside in several of her films.
