About Gabrielle Roth
Gabrielle Roth (born February 4, 1941) is an American dancer, musician, and experimental theatre artist known for her creation of the 5Rhythms movement. Born in California, Roth has gained worldwide recognition for establishing The Moving Center School in 1987.
Before gaining fame as a creator of transformative movement practices, Roth studied dance as a teenager and taught dance to fund her college education. A knee injury prompted her to explore the healing power of dance during her recovery.
Roth expanded into music as well; under the name Gabrielle Roth and the Mirrors she produced over twenty albums of trance and world music. In addition to her musical achievements, she authored three books on shamanism between 1989 and 2004 that delved into the themes of movement and transformation.
In her personal life, Roth raised four children: Jonathan, Scott, Brian, and Kevin. Jonathan followed in his mother’s footsteps by pursuing a career in professional dancing.
