About Francisca Gavilan
Francisca Gavilan (born June 27, 1973) is a Chilean actress and musician known for her acclaimed portrayal of singer Violeta Parra in the biopic Violeta Went to Heaven (2011). Gavilan gained recognition for performing many of Parra’s signature songs in the film. She has also appeared in other notable films such as Bad Influence (2016) and on television shows like La Poseida.
Prior to her acting career, Gavilan graduated from theater school in 1994 and studied under actress Luz Jimenez. Her performance in Violeta Went to Heaven earned her Best Actress honors at the Chileans Altazor Award and the Guadalajara International Film Festival.
Gavilan married Eduardo Tironi in 1997, with whom she has children named Rosalba and Osvaldo.
