About Frances Fitzgerald
Frances Fitzgerald, born on October 21, 1940 in New York, is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author. She is best known for her coverage and writings on the Vietnam War, which earned her the prestigious award in 1973.
Before gaining fame as a journalist, Fitzgerald made an impression with her series of letters to Adlai E. Stevenson Jr., where she expressed her opinions on foreign affairs.
Her book “Fire in the Lake: The Vietnamese and the Americans in Vietnam” further solidified her reputation when it won the Pulitzer Prize in General Non-Fiction category in 1973. Frances was married to James P. Sterba, who was a former writer for The Wall Street Journal.
