About Eriko Imai
Eriko Imai is a former J-Pop singer and politician, born on September 22, 1983 in Naha, Japan. She is best known for her time as a member of the popular Japanese girl band Speed, and was elected to be a Parliamentary Vice-Minister in the Japanese government.
Imai began her professional singing career in 1996 and released her debut solo album, My Place, in 2001 which peaked as high as number seven on the Oricon charts. She hails from Naha, Okinawa and has shown dedication to learning sign language due to having a son who was born with disabilities.
