About Emily Hughes
Emily Hughes is an American figure skater who represented the United States at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. Born on January 26, 1989, in New York, she achieved silver medals in ladies’ singles at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships and Four Continents Championships in 2007.
Before gaining fame, she was born in Great Neck, New York and qualified for her first U.S. Figure Skating Championships in 2001. Additionally, in 2002 she co-wrote the book I Am a Skater.
After retiring from figure skating, Hughes pursued a career serving as a legislative intern with the United States Senate and working for the International Olympic Committee in Switzerland.
Her family includes older sister Sarah Hughes – also a figure skater – who won gold at the 2002 Winter Olympics while Emily has four other siblings.
