About Elizabeth Kim
Elizabeth Kim (born April 22, 1978) is a Korean-American author and journalist best known for her memoir, Ten Thousand Sorrows: The Extraordinary Journey of a Korean War Orphan. Born in South Korea to an American father and a Korean mother, Kim’s early life was marked by tragedy when her mother was murdered by her uncle and grandfather in 1958. She was then sent to an orphanage.
Kim later lived in San Rafael, California where she worked as a journalist at the Marin Independent Journal. It was during this time that literary agent Patti Breitman approached her to write her memoir. Ten Thousand Sorrows has been translated into more than ten languages.
In addition to her writing career, Kim also spent time working as a model in Sweden.
