Eleanor Hoyt Brainerd (January 31, 1868 – ) was an American fashion journalist and author known for her popular novels targeted at young women. Born in Iowa, she began her career as a fashion writer for the New York Sun and also contributed to publications such as Ladies Home Journal and The Saturday Evening Post.
Brainerd’s novels, including The Misdemeanors of Nancy and For Love of Mary Ellen, focused on courageous adolescent women who triumphed over adversity – often featuring orphaned protagonists.
