Elayne Boosler is an American comedian and television host born on August 18, 1952, in New York. She made history as the first female comic to have her own one-hour comedy special on cable with Showtime’s ‘Party of One’ in 1986.
Prior to her comedy career, Boosler worked as a singer and dancer at a club until she was encouraged by Andy Kaufman to pursue stand-up comedy. She also assisted Kaufman in writing his last special before his passing.
Throughout her career, Boosler’s specials were consistently nominated for awards, and she is known not only for her comedic talents but also for her advocacy as an animal rights activist.
In 2007, she married Bill Siddons, who previously managed the rock band The Doors.
