About EL Konigsburg
EL Konigsburg, born on February 10, 1930 in New York City, New York, was a renowned children’s author. She achieved widespread acclaim for her works, including The View from Saturday (1997), which won the prestigious Newbery Medal. This book centered on the life of a paraplegic girl. Additionally, her notable creations encompass From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler (1967) and Silent to the Bone (2000).
Prior to her success as an author, Konigsburg pursued studies in chemistry at the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh. Her writing career took off with the publication of “Jennifer, Hecate, Macbeth; William McKinley; And Me; Elizabeth” in 1967.
In addition to her literary contributions, she published The Mysterious Edge of the Heroic World in 2007.
Konigsburg married David Konigsburg in 1952 and they had three children together.
