About Dorothy Wordsworth
Dorothy Wordsworth was an English author, journal writer, and poet born on December 25, 1771, in England. She is best known as the sister of Romantic poet William Wordsworth and is mentioned in his renowned “Tintern Abbey” poem.
Before gaining fame as a writer, Dorothy and her siblings faced poverty after their mother’s death and often had to beg friends for clothes. Despite this hardship, she never sought recognition or married, living as an invalid during the last decades of her life.
Following her mother’s death at a young age, Dorothy lived with her aunt Elizabeth Threlkeld before reuniting with her beloved brother William.
