Dorothy L. Sayers (June 13, 1893) was a distinguished novelist, translator, and playwright hailing from Oxford, England. Renowned for her thrilling Lord Peter Wimsey series and other captivating detective fiction works, she also considered her translation of Dante’s The Divine Comedy to be her masterpiece.
Her literary journey began at Somerville College, Oxford where she drew inspiration for her 1935 novel Gaudy Night. Her first publication was a poetry collection in 1916.
