About Dorothy Hamill
Dorothy Hamill is an American figure skater who was born on July 26, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois. She rose to fame by winning an Olympic gold medal in the singles competition in 1976. In addition to her Olympic success, she also secured gold at the 1976 World Championships and earned silver medals in both 1974 and 1975.
Before gaining recognition for her exceptional skills on the ice, Dorothy faced the challenge of limited practice time due to constraints at her home rink. To overcome this obstacle, she would stay with friends in New York City to get extra hours of training.
In recognition of her outstanding achievements, Dorothy was inducted into the United States Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 1991. Aside from her professional accomplishments, she has experienced various aspects of family life including marriages with actor Dean Paul Martin and Kenneth Forsythe before marrying John MacColl in 2009. She also shares a daughter named Alexandra with Kenneth.
