Dorothy Day was a renowned civil rights leader, journalist, and social activist. She was born on November 8, 1897 in New York City, New York.
Prior to gaining recognition for her civil rights work, Day worked as a journalist for several progressive cause magazines. At the age of 30, she converted to Catholicism and co-founded the Catholic Worker Movement in 1933.
Day utilized her platform as a devout Catholic to advocate for women’s suffrage and pacifism.
