About Dorianne Laux

Dorianne Laux, born on January 10, 1952 in Maine, is an American poet and recipient of the Pushcart Prize. She is known for her works including “What We Carry” and “Facts About the Moon”. In 2011, she received both the Paterson Prize and the Roanoke-Chowan Award for her work “The Book of Men”. Prior to pursuing poetry full-time, Laux held various jobs such as a maid, cook, and gas station manager before completing her degree in English at Mills College. Her work has been featured in three editions of The Best American Poetry between 1999 and 2013.

Laux is married to fellow poet Joseph Millar. Together they settled in North Carolina with their daughter.
