About Diane Wakoski
Diane Wakoski is an American poet known for her confessional and deep image poetry. Born on August 3, 1937 in California, she has made significant contributions to the literary world with works such as The Motorcycle Betrayal Poems and Emerald Ice.
Wakoski’s literary talent has been recognized with several prestigious grants including Fulbright, Guggenheim, and National Endowment for the Arts awards. Prior to achieving recognition as a poet, Wakoski graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1960.
In addition to her writing career, she also taught creative writing courses at Michigan State University. She grew up in Whittier, California and later married Robert Turner who was a photographer.
