About Diana Atwine
Diana Atwine (born November 11, 1111) is a Ugandan medical doctor and government official known for her role as the Permanent Secretary of the Ugandan Ministry of Health. She previously served as the President’s Private Secretary in Charge of Medical Affairs and worked as one of the personal physicians to the Ugandan President.
Atwine earned her bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery from Mbarara University School of Medicine, later obtaining a master’s degree in Internal Medicine from the same university. She began her career at St. Francis Hospital Nsambya before joining the Uganda Joint Clinical Research Center.
In 2009, Atwine was appointed to lead the Medicine and Health Services Delivery Monitoring Unit, where she uncovered corrupt practices within the Ministry of Health including an illegal drug trade across borders and fraudulent employment at Mulago National Referral Hospital.
She is married to Mr. Kamzira and has three children, making her daughterly proud parents Ernest Rujundira and Joy Kensheka Rujundira who raised Atwine as their third child.
