Dee Lestari, born on January 20, 1976 in Bandung, Indonesia, is a novelist who has achieved critical acclaim and commercial success with works like Filosofi Kopi, Madre and the books in the Supernova series. Before her writing career took off, she was the singer for the band Rida Sita Dewi and recorded three albums. Dee got her start as a backup vocalist for artists like Chrisye and earned a degree in international relations from Parahyangan Catholic University. She released her first solo album, Out of Shell, in 2006.
In her personal life, Dee Lestari has a son named Keenan with singer and ex-husband Marcell Siahaan. In 2008 she married Reza Gunawan with whom she has a daughter named Atisha.
