Dawn Richard, born on August 5, 1983 in New Orleans, Louisiana, is a pop singer, songwriter, and occasional actress. She gained prominence as a member of the girl group Danity Kane from 2005 to 2009. In 2016, she released her third solo album titled “Redemption,” which received widespread critical acclaim. Additionally, Richard has appeared in supporting roles in the films Kinky and 5 Weddings.
Before gaining fame with Danity Kane, she performed with a group called Realiti during her teenage years in New Orleans. Following Hurricane Katrina in 2005, she relocated to Baltimore, Maryland.
Richard dated Day26’s Qwanell Mosley for five years and hails from a musical family; her father Frank Richard was the lead singer of the funk band Chocolate Milk.
