About Dana Rosemary Scallon
Dana Rosemary Scallon was born on August 30, 1951 in England. She is best known as a World Music Singer and gained fame for winning the 1970 Eurovision Song Contest with her single “All Kinds of Everything.” In addition to her music career, she also ventured into politics, representing Ireland’s Connacht–Ulster constituency in the European Parliament and running for the Irish presidency in 2011.
Prior to her rise to international prominence, Dana had already shown promise as a performer by winning talent competitions from a young age. She released her first single “Sixteen” at the age of sixteen and participated in various song contests before achieving success at Eurovision.
Aside from her musical pursuits, Dana hosted a BBC talk show called A Day with Dana and later transitioned into Catholic music vocals during her time living in the southern United States. Born in England and raised between London and Derry, Northern Ireland as one of seven children, she eventually started a family with husband Damien Scallon. Together they have four children: Grace, Ruth, John James, and Robert.
