About Cornelia Funke
Cornelia Funke (born December 10, 1958) is a German novelist known for creating the popular Inkheart trilogy and receiving numerous literary awards in the U.S., Japan, and her native Germany.
Aside from the Inkheart books, Funke has also authored the Ghosthunters, MirrorWorld, and Wild Chicks fantasy/adventure series. Before pursuing a career as a writer, she studied at the University of Hamburg and worked as a social worker. Her first novel, Die Wilden Huhner was published in 1993.
In addition to her adventure series, Funke has written several stand-alone books including The Thief Lord, Dragonrider, and When Santa Fell to Earth.
Funke was born in Dorsten, Germany to Helmi and Karl-Heinz Funke. She is married to Rolf Frahm and they have two children together– Anna and Ben.
