About Colleen McCullough
Colleen McCullough was a renowned Australian novelist, best known for her 1977 international bestseller The Thorn Birds, which was later adapted into one of the highest-rated miniseries of all time. Born on June 1, 1937 in Australia, she initially pursued studies to become a medical doctor at the University of Sydney.
In addition to The Thorn Birds, her works include Tim (1974), An Indecent Obsession (1981) and Morgan’s Run)2000).
McCullough also taught in the Department of Neurology at Yale Medical School in New Haven, Connecticut from 1967 to 1976. She married Ric Robinson in 1983 and tragically lost her younger brother Carl when he drowned at age 25; he served as inspiration for a character in The Thorn Birds.
