Christina Crawford is a memoirist born on June 11, 1939, in California. She gained notoriety for her famous memoir Mommie Dearest, where she details her alleged abuse by her adoptive mother, screen actress Joan Crawford. The book was published in 1978 and inspired the popular 1981 film of the same title.
Prior to her fame as an author, Christina trained at New York’s Neighborhood Playhouse and Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama. She later earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles and pursued acting in Off-Broadway and regional theatre productions like In Color on Sundays and Dark of the Moon.
