About Cherylee Houston
Cherylee Houston was born on August 20, 1975 in Lancashire, England. She is a renowned soap opera actress, known for her roles as Belle Hutchinson on Doctors and Izzy Armstrong on Coronation Street. Notably, she became the first disabled person to represent a disabled character on Coronation Street.
Houston developed a passion for acting at the age of seven after watching the film Annie (1982). Her interest led her to pursue appearing in plays during her teenage years and later studying at the Arden School of Theatre.
At 23, Houston was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a connective tissue disorder that has since required her to use a permanent wheelchair. Despite this challenge, she has continued to excel in her acting career.
Born to Bill and Coral Houston, who ran their own photography business, Cherylee also has two older brothers named Lee and Vincent.
