Charlotte Laws (born May 11, 1960) is an American author, talk show host, animal rights advocate, anti-revenge porn activist, former Los Angeles politician, and actress under the stage name Missy Laws. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated from The Lovett School before attending the University of Florida, the University of Nevada Las Vegas and California State University Northridge. She went on to earn two master’s degrees and a PhD from the University of Southern California.
Laws has gained attention for her work as an activist with over 20,000 followers on Twitter. Notably, she performed stand-up comedy at Los Angeles’ Comedy Store and was voted the fourth most notorious party crasher in the world—beating out notable figures such as Bill Murray, Queen Elizabeth II, Serena Williams, Lady Gaga and others. In addition to her professional pursuits she had a three-year romance with singer Tom Jones which she documented in her memoir “Rebel in High Heels”.
A committed vegan and founder of Directors of Animal Welfare Charlotte Laws’ activism attracted high-profile endorsement when Natalie Portman and Jason Alexander took part in a fundraising benefit that used Laws’ adopted pet chicken Mae Poulet as its spokesanimal.
