Cathy Newman (born July 14, 1974) is an English journalist known for her work with Channel 4 News. She began her career with the network as a correspondent in 2006 before moving on to become a presenter in 2011. In addition to her broadcasting work, she authored her first book, “Bloody Brilliant Women,” in 2018.
Before entering the world of journalism, Newman studied English at Lady Margaret Hall at Oxford University and graduated with first-class honors. Throughout her career, she has contributed to media outlets such as Media Week, The Independent, the Financial Times and The Washington Post.
Born in Guildford, England to parents David Newman and Julia Worsdall—both chemistry teachers—Newman also has one sister. In 2011, she married John O’Connell; they have two daughters together.
