Carolyn Jones-Young is a former basketball player who was born on July 29, 1969, in Mississippi. She gained recognition as a guard for the New England Blizzard of the American Basketball League and also played in the WNBA and for Team USA.
Prior to her professional career, she made a name for herself at Auburn University by leading the team to consecutive Final Four appearances in 1989 and 1990. Her exceptional performance earned her a spot on the NCAA All-Tournament team in 1990.
Jones-Young’s achievements extended beyond college basketball as she represented the United States at international competitions. In 1990, she was part of the gold medal-winning U.S. team at the FIBA World Championship and later won bronze with Team USA at the Barcelona Olympics two years later.
After taking time off from basketball to care for her newborn daughter, Carolyn returned briefly to play professionally in 2001 and 2002 before retiring from competitive sports.
