Carmen Dell’Orefice, born on June 3, 1931 in New York, is a renowned model and actress best known as the world’s oldest working model. Her career took off when she graced the cover of Vogue at just 15 years old. Throughout her illustrious career, she has been featured in publications such as Harper’s Bazaar and Vanity Fair. Notably, she also served as Salvador Dali’s muse.
Before finding fame, Carmen was discovered at the age of 13 while riding the bus to ballet class by the wife of photographer Herman Landschoff. She went on to become best friends with fellow model Suzy Parker.
