About Carla Mendonca
Carla Mendonca (born October 25, 1964) is a television actress from Belfast, Northern Ireland. She is best known for her roles as Sophie Johnson in My Parents Are Aliens and Clare Phillips in My Dad’s the Prime Minister. Later in her career, she had a recurring role in the show So Awkward.
Before gaining fame as an actress, Mendonca graduated from the University of Warwick with a degree in dramatic arts and theatre studies in 1985. She also performed in several theater productions with the Oxford Stage Company including Measure for Measure, Twelfth Night, King Lear and As You Like It.
Mendonca comes from a family of professional ballet dancers; both of her parents were involved in the profession. Her mother is English while her father is Portuguese. She has two brothers, one of whom joined the British Army and became its youngest ever Colonel at age 36. In 2016, Mendonca married actor Clive Mantle.
