About Brix Smith-Start
Brix Smith-Start, born Laura Elisse Salenger on November 12, 1962 in Los Angeles, California, is a metal singer known for her work as a singer, songwriter, and guitarist. She gained prominence as a member of bands such as The Fall and The Adult Net.
Before pursuing music full-time, she studied English and theatre at Bennington College in Vermont. Brix grew up in Chicago and Los Angeles with her first husband Mark Smith who was also a singer with The Fall; they divorced in 1989. Later on, she married Philip Start with whom she established a London boutique in 2002.
