Brett Somers was a Canadian TV actress, best known for her role as a panelist on the popular American game show match Game from 1973 to 1982. Born on July 11, 1924, she began her acting career on stage in 1955 and later appeared in the 1965 film A Rage to Live.
Before gaining fame through television, Somers ran away from home at age 17 and eventually found herself in Greenwich Village, New York City. She also changed her name from Audrey to Brett as a tribute to a character in Ernest Hemingway’s novel The Sun Also Rises.
In addition to her work on match Game, Somers had acting roles on The Odd Couple and The new Perry Mason. In her personal life, she married Jack Klugman in 1953 and raised two sons, David and Adam.
