About Bonnie Dunbar
Bonnie Dunbar (born March 3, 1949) is an American astronaut and scientist known for her involvement in five space missions from 1985 to 1998. She was born in Sunnyside, Washington and obtained a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Houston before beginning her career as an astronaut.
In addition to her contributions to space exploration, Dunbar has also had leadership roles outside of NASA. From 2005 to 2010, she served as president and CEO of The Museum of Flight. After this, she transitioned into leading the University of Houston’s STEM Center, which focuses on science, technology, engineering and math.
Dunbar is married to Ronald M. Sega.
