About Beverly Burns
Beverly Burns (born August 15, 1949) is an American pilot known for being the first female pilot of a Boeing 747 jet. She made aviation history by taking off from Newark, New Jersey and landing in Los Angeles, California.
Before achieving this milestone, Burns worked as a stewardess for American Airlines while attending flight school. She also held various roles within the airline industry including aircraft dispatcher, gate agent, and baggage handler for People Express Airlines.
In 1972 she married fellow aviator Robert Allen Burns.
