About Bethann Hardison
Bethann Hardison, born on September 30, 1957 in Brooklyn, New York, is an international runway model and pioneer for African American models. She achieved recognition for founding the Diversity Coalition and establishing her own modeling agency, which has coached prominent figures such as Tyson Beckford, Naomi Campbell and Veronica Webb.
Before gaining fame in the fashion industry, Hardison worked as a garment industry salesgirl during the 1960s. She made history by becoming one of the first black models to walk a European runway in November 1973.
Hardison’s contributions have been acknowledged with numerous accolades including the CFDA Founder’s Award for her lifelong activism duties and the Black Enterprise Women of Power Legacy Award.
She grew up in Brooklyn, New York and has a son named Kadeem Harrison with her husband Donald McFadden.
