About Barbara La Marr
Barbara La Marr (1896-07-28) was an American movie actress known for her extraordinary beauty and presence on the silver screen. Born in Washington, she gained fame for her roles in early 20th-century films such as Trifling Women, The Prisoner of Zenda, and The Nut. Additionally, she also worked as a screenwriter under the pen name Folly Lytell while at Fox Studios.
La Marr made her film debut in 1920 with Harriet and the Piper. Despite her successful career, she faced personal challenges including drug abuse, kidney disease, and tuberculosis; tragically passing away at age twenty-nine.
She spent her youth across Washington, Oregon, and California before marrying multiple times. Her marriages to Jack Lytell and Lawrence Converse ended due to their deaths; later divorcing Phil Ainsworth and Ben Deeley. Her fifth marriage to Jack Dougherty lasted from 1923 until her untimely death in 1926.
