About Barbara Kruger
Barbara Kruger is a conceptual artist known for her use of black-and-white photographs with declarative red captions in her work. She was born on January 26, 1945, in Newark, New Jersey.
Kruger favored the use of Futura Bold Oblique and Helvetica Ultra Condensed fonts to create bold visual statements.
Before gaining recognition as an artist, Kruger studied at Syracuse University, Parsons School of Design, Weequahic High School, and the School of Visual Arts.
Her most acclaimed works included “Untitled (I shop therefore I am)”.
Kruger’s mother worked as a legal secretary while her father was a chemical technician.
