About Asma Nadia
Asma Nadia is an Indonesian novelist, born on March 26, 1972 in Jakarta, Indonesia. She is best known for her novels and short stories, as well as for founding the Lingkar Pena Forum. Some of her notable works include Assalamualaikum, Beijing! and Heaven that is not longing. Asma Nadia was also selected as one of 35 writers invited to attend the Iowa International Writing Program.
She graduated from SMA 1 Budi Utomo in Jakarta with a degree in Faculty of Agriculture and Technology and published her first collection of stories entitled Bestari in 1996. In 2009, she founded her own publishing company called Asma Nadia Publishing House.
Asma Nadia has achieved recognition by winning first prize at the National Islamic Short Story Writing Contest held by Aninda Magazine in both 1994 and 1995.
She married fellow writer Isa Alamsyah and together they have two children: Eva Maria Putri Salsabila and Adam Putra Firdaus.
