Arati Saha, born on September 24th, 1940 in India, was a notable Olympic swimmer. She is best known for being the first woman from Asia to swim across the English Channel. Saha’s journey into swimming began at age four and she was recognized as an emerging talent by renowned swimmer Sachin Nag.
Prior to her fame, Arati Saha achieved a remarkable feat of winning 22 state swimming competitions between 1945-1951. After her sporting career, she married Ramani Mohan Chakravarthy.
