About Anne Claire Poirier
Anne Claire Poirier is a Canadian director born on June 6, 1932, in Canada. She is known for being the first French-Canadian woman to direct a feature film. Some of her notable works include “A Scream from Silence” (1979) and “Let Me Go” (1997).
Prior to gaining fame as a director, Poirier was born in St-Hyacinthe, Quebec and worked in the Translation’s Office at the Film Board of Canada.
In 2001, she received a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement. The tragic murder of her daughter Yanne served as inspiration for her film “Let Me Go.”
