Anne Cameron, born Barbara Anne Cameron on August 20, 1938 in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada, is a Canadian novelist known for her works that focus on the First Nations tribes of the Pacific Northwest. She rose to fame with her 1978 novel Dreamspeaker and also gained recognition for her screenplay Ticket to Heaven in 1981. Her literary portfolio includes the poetry collection Earth Witch (1983) and the children’s book How Raven Freed the Moon (1985).
Before achieving widespread acclaim as a novelist, Cameron received accolades such as the 1972 Alberta Poetry Competition Prize and the Bliss Carman Poetry Award in 1973 near the beginning of her career. In addition to these early achievements, she continued to publish fiction throughout the early 2000s.
Cameron has used pen names including Anne Cameron and Cam Hubert throughout her writing career. She resided primarily in Tahsis, Powell River, and Vancouver Island within British Columbia.
