About Ann Taylor
Ann Taylor (January 30, 1782) was an English poet born in England. She is best known for her children’s verse and prose works. Ann collaborated with her sister, Jane Taylor, who wrote the famous nursery rhyme “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.” Growing up in a literary family, she began writing at a young age.
Her work is often mistakenly attributed to her sister Jane, who achieved fame earlier and died at a young age. In 1813, Ann married Joseph Gilbert after he proposed marriage without ever meeting her in person.
