About Alla Verber
Alla Verber (born May 21, 1958) is an entrepreneur and fashion icon from Saint Petersburg, Russia. She is best known for her role in building Russia’s premier department store TsUM and serving as the vice president of Russia’s largest luxury goods group Mercury.
Prior to her success in the retail industry, Verber graduated from college and opened a fashion boutique called Katia of Italy. Interestingly, she initially studied medicine before pursuing a career in fashion retail and merchandising.
Verber’s parents emigrated to Canada from the USSR in 1976. She was married to David Averbakh.
