About Alison Lurie
Alison Lurie is an American novelist born on September 3, 1926, in Illinois. She is best known for her Pulitzer Prize-winning novel “Foreign Affairs,” which was published in 1984. Other notable works include “The Truth About Lorin Jones” (1989) and “The War Between the Tates” (1974).
Lurie graduated from Radcliffe College in the late 1940s and later began teaching children’s literature at Cornell University in the early 1970s. In addition to her novels, she often wrote reviews of children’s literature for the New York Review of Books.
Lurie had three children with her first husband, Jonathan Peale Bishop, before marrying Edward Hower.
