About Amanda Levete
Amanda Levete was born on November 17, 1955 in Wales. She is a renowned architect who gained prominence as the co-partner of Future Systems, an innovative design firm, alongside her first husband Jan Kaplicky. Under her leadership, Future Systems successfully translated off-beat designs into marketable projects. After parting ways with Future Systems, she went on to become the principal of Amanda Levete Architects (AL_A).
Prior to her professional success, Levete studied at the Architectural Association and later worked for Richard Rogers before joining Future Systems in 1989. During her tenure with the firm, they were responsible for iconic projects such as the Lord’s Media Centre and Selfridges department store which led to them winning the Royal Institute of British Architects Stirling Prize.
Levete’s personal life includes having one child with Czech architect Jan Kaplicky before their divorce in 2006. She subsequently married Ben Evans, director of the London Design Festival.
