Aloha Wanderwell (born October 13, 1906 in Winnipeg, Canada) was a renowned explorer and the first woman to circumnavigate the world by car in the 1920s. Throughout her lifetime, she visited over 80 countries and gained recognition as an esteemed travel lecturer, radio speaker, and print journalist. She achieved multiple accomplishments including becoming the first woman to fly over Brazil’s Mato Grasso region and capturing early footage of its indigenous Bororo people.

Before gaining fame as an explorer, Wanderwell responded to an advertisement seeking a secretary for a round-the-world expedition led by Captain Walter Wanderwell when she was just 16 years old. It was during this time that she adopted her famous stage name—Aloha Wanderwell.

Her extensive filmography is preserved at the Academy Film Archive in Hollywood, CA which includes rare footage dating back to the 1920s along with titles such as “Cape to Cairo” and “To See the World by Car.” In addition to her film work, she also authored a memoir titled “Call to Adventure” in 1939.
