Allyn Rose (born May 27, 1988) is a pageant contestant from Maryland. She was crowned Miss Maryland in 2011 and placed in the top eight at the Miss USA pageant. Rose has become a prominent advocate for breast cancer awareness and prevention.
Rose gained widespread attention at age 24 when she made the decision to undergo a preventative double mastectomy due to her family history of breast cancer. Her mother, grandmother, and great aunt had all succumbed to the disease. In a groundbreaking move, she became the first woman with a mastectomy to model for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit.
Prior to her pageant career, Rose worked as a paralegal for four years. She was honored with the Women’s Health Advocacy Award in March 2013 for her efforts in raising public awareness about breast cancer. As part of her advocacy work, she founded The Previvor, a non-profit organization that supports women going through mastectomies.
