About Allison Anders
Allison Anders is a screenwriter, director, and producer born on November 16th, 1954 in Ashland, Kentucky. She is best known for her work in independent films including the 1992 hit Gas, Food Lodging. In 2013, she received an Emmy Award nomination for directing the TV movie Ring of Fire which depicted the love story of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash.
Prior to her successful career in film, Anders studied at UCLA Film school. Notably, she faced mental health challenges and was hospitalized at the age of 15 but has since made a recovery.
Anders comes from a background marked by family struggles as her father abandoned her mother and siblings when she was four years old.
